ORA is a start up by us (we are farmer's families) with a vision of providing the fresh and crunchy apples produced in the villages of Himachal Pradesh for the apple buyers all across India. As a result of vast network of farmers linked with us to provide these apples we try our level best to deliver the fresh and crunchy apples what you actually didn’t get from the local hawker and from the local market at your door step without any extra charges even rates will be lesser then the market.
We personally visit the orchards of the empaneled farmers located into deep in the Himalayas region of Himachal Pradesh to ensure they produce best quality apples which are then delivered to you. All the apples provided to you are handpicked from a certain range of height and temperature zones (Shimla & Kinnaur) which are most suited to produce best apples in the region.
What's So Special About HIMACHAL APPLES ?
In Himachal weather has been perfectly fine for apple crop which produces good quality apples. The snow and rain help the apple plants get their chilling and nutrient requirements. However, it also needs dry atmosphere for proper flowering and fruit setting in higher reaches (above 7000 feet) where the apple plants are still in pink bud stage or king bloom. It makes Himachal perfect farming area for apples with these conditions. The Himachal Apples thus produced as the result of these geographical and atmospheric conditions is highly rich in taste, freshness, juiciness and have long life without any artificial preservatives. Owing to the high production of apples in Himachal, it is known as the “Apple Garden of India”. Himachal is famous for its crunchy and delicious apples.
From The Annals Of History
Himachal Pradesh has earned the fame of “Apple State” as the apple was first cultivated in Thanedar village of Shimla district. Apple is also the main cash crop of the state. Apple as a cash crop has given the people of Himachal Pradesh to raise themselves economically. It is really quite great to know about the great efforts of a noble human being and visionary like Late. Satyanand Stokes whose contribution to the introduction of ‘Delicious’ quality of apple to all of us in this part of the world shall always remain thankful forever. Apples are grown across the hill state. However, upper parts of Shimla district, including Kotgarh,Kumarsain,Theog,Jubbal Kotkhai,Chopal and Kinnaur produce 80 per cent of apple produce in Himachal.
Apple'nomics
The apple economy runs into Rs 5,000 crore in Himachal with around 1.7 lakh families associated with it, mainly in Shimla, Kullu and Kinnaur districts. Kinnaur apples life and test are much best than any other apple . According to the official records, apple is produced on 1.35 lakh hectares in the state with productivity as low as 3-4 tones per hectare. The apple production in Himachal Pradesh is around 5 crore boxes (one box is 20 kilograms) if the crop is good. Himachal generally contributes 40 per cent of total apple production in India, followed by Kashmir, which is at the top with 50 per cent production.
